First Mail
I'm doing batxillerat so then i can go on to a waterski university in America. Even if i was'nt going to university i think batxillerat is really important beacuse if you go for a job interview of something like that they will always go for the guy that has batxillerat. I think too many people in Spain don't have batxillerat which limits there possibilities of jobs and a bright future.
Europens in Norway

hey guys
This is a photo of me in the waterskii europeans, middle east and south africa tornament in Norway. Every year a country holds them and we always hope that we have to go to a diferent country like south africa, or china or some country that we havent been to yet. But sadly they were in Norway.
Im the only one on the irish team this year so I went with my Dad in the car. We arrived on a saturday a few days before the tournament so we could get some training. We stayed in a hotel looking over the lake. The Italian team and the greek team were in the same hotel as us do it was a little bit raudy. Im really good friends with all of the teams but especially with the spanish team because I train with them and see them every weekend when I train in Ventalló.
The starting lists went up on sunday morning, and i had to skii on tuesday afternoon. There were 89 people in the U21 group. So I had some time to chill out until tuesday. My dad has a problem with sight seeing so we spent a whole day driving around Norway on our only day off. Very boring. Lots of mountains. Lots of green.....
On tuesday I skied very well and put out a good score. The day went by and in the e

On wednesday ,the finals day came, there was a really bad wind so I got a little bit nervios. I was second last up so I could wacht the others before I skied and learn things from them coping with the bad conditions. Everyone was skiing well and the wind got worse and worse, so I got really nervios. I had a really good chance to come third because they two ahead of me are really good. When I skied i jumped far enpugh to get third place, and there was one skied left. Long story short, he came first and i was left in fourth position. I was a little bit upset because I had got my hopes up too much, but my dad told me that I skied really well and that I had three years left in this category, and I felt better, a little.
Cant wait until next europeans in France :(
could humans live to 1000 ?

Could humans live one day to be 1000 years old?
Vital signs, a health show, and anti-aging have teamed experts have teamed up to give us an idea of what we are capable of actually doing.
Dan Buettner, an expert in the area of aging has done extensive studies on how long people could actually live and the helthiest lives. This area is called the Blue zones, and he will share to us the formula for a long life
Another expert in the field id Dr.Aubrey de Grey, who has sold meny books on his work. The rejuvinating breakthroughs that couls reverse human aging. he believes that regenerative medicine could extend human life to 1000 years.
At the moment this is all the information I have on such an interesting subject. I just wanted to give an opinion about this. Our planet is quite obviously overpopulated, and more people than ever are using the earth's limited resources. It stands to reason that the rate at which climate changing gases such as carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere depend on the size of the global population. The idea of immortality may sound like a very good idea, it would dramatically inflate the world's population and accelerate our environmental problems. To give you an example :Why is cancer so deadly? Cancer cells are practically immortal, in that they do not die of natural couses . If human beings were to live indefinately, this would certainly bring about the rapid destruction of our planet. The quest for immortality is a dangerous one, with catastrophic effects.
Even if we take into account that overpopulation of the world would destroy us eventually, would you like to live forever?
IRELAND'S BEST RUGBY TEAM,, UNBEATEN IN 2009

The irish rugby team, winners of the european cup ended the year unbeaten in there last match in 2009 against the world champions South Africa. It was a sublime match forJonathan Sexton's second game for Ireland scoring all of Ireland's points in a 15-10 win.
This was Jonathans second match for Ireland taking over the veteran Ronan O'Gara's, he landed five of the six penalties given to Ireland to South Africa's Try by Schalk Burger and penalty.
The South African's, who won the Tri-nations cup, which is a competition between New Zeland, Australia and South Africa, missed three kicks and made lots of handling errors during the match, they substituted there kicker and brought out Pienar, one of there best kickers, but he missed aswell.
But today was a day for the irish, Sexton landed early penalties which put Ireland in front early in the match, his great kicking is what helped Ireland to surpres the world champions.
video - requiem for a dream..

Drugs. They consume mind, body and soul. Once you're hooked, you're hooked. Four lives. Four addicts. Four failures. Doing their best to succeed in the world, but failing miserably, four people get hooked on various drugs. Despite their aspirations of greatness, they succumb to their addictions. Watching the addicts spiral out of control, we bear witness to the dirtiest, ugliest portions of the underworld addicts reside in. It is shocking and eye-opening but demands to be seen by both addicts and non-addicts alike.
Requiem for a Dream exposes four individuals and their addiction to heroin, cocaine, and diet pills (speed). Taking place in Brooklyn , the drugs are very easily obtained and keep each main character in its cycle of dependence. The protagonist Harry Goldfarb is your typical heroin junky with an ambitious plan of "Getting off hard knocks," with help from his cocaine crazed girlfriend Marion and his long time friend Tyrone. Meanwhile his mother is obsessed with the glamor of television and eventually finds her way to a dietitian who pushes her into the cycle of daily pills.
A film about the lives of Sara Goldfarb, a lonely, TV obsessed widow, and her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his drug dealer friend Tyrone. After learning that she will make an appearance on a TV game show, Sara tries to lose weight so that she can fit into her prized red dress, and becomes hooked on diet pills. Meanwhile, Harry and his friends are taking heroin and cocaine. We then witness the consequences as a result of their addictions.
The film depicts the lives of four different people living in Brooklyn on their quest for satisfaction in life. It shows the direct and indirect effects that drugs and various addictions have on each of the individuals, and then goes from the hopes of dreams into the helpless state of moral and physical decay. This is the first film that I have seen that really shows how drugs can seperate us from ourselves, and that we should be more aware with framacy drugs that are easy to obtain but can cause great damage if not taken with responsability
uncountable surgeries destroyed michael's face

Michael Jackson is a good example to not to go too far in plastic surgery. As you can see at his early pictures the very fist rhinoplasty(surgery on the nose) was very good, the second nose job was also fine, even the third nose surgery was ok, but he could not stop and the crucial moment was when he lighted his skin and started reshaping his poor chin and his African eyes which finally turned him into a total disaster.
Although after several plastic surgeries his nose was already small and feminine, but Michael kept reshaping it, wanting more and more changes. Still there is no official document or investigation answering the question “How man

The real reasons that led to this may never be known. I too believe that vitiligo and makeup led to his skin getting lighter. His facial changes on his nose and chin could have been an outcome of his childhood. In an interview he said that his father Joe would call him "ugly" . He would remark on his skin color telling him he was too dark and that his nose was too big to be his child. That could have led to his decision in thinning out his nose that ultimatly warped his face and changed his apearance. I thing that, with many famous people, they want to look there best everywhere they go and this is what led michael to all of these plastic surgeries. Also with his father huiliating him often i think this scared his life.

video news (white house breach)

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/27/state.dinner.couple/index.html
A couple lied to federal authorities and got into Barak Obama's first state dinner that was held for the Indian prime minister. They pretended that they belonged there, posed for many photos, met the president and the prime minister of India, and all illegaly.
It was a huge embarassment to the secret service because they were the people that were controling the whole situation, and to just let somebody in that doesn't have the invitation and just says ''i was invited'' should make the secret service pay more atention to what they are doing.
The couples names are Tareq and Michaele salahi, very famous people Tv reality stars. An investigation has gone into the why and how they got inside the white house. Secret service say that protocals were not followed at initial checkpoints.
Are paper books dead??

Paper books are definatly not dead, they are used and reas throught the world and will be for many years to come by millions os people.
First of all there are consoles that con be bought that you can download the bokks onto which is a handy thing, to have all the books you like stored up in one palce. It it true to say that the quantity of books bought is less than passed years but in no way is it possible for reading consoles to take over the book industry, simply because of the fact that most of the people that buy books are of an older age and the young generations of today, apart from the fact that most of them don't read books, would definatly not download then from the internet.
To conclude I think that paper books will triumph always and that thousands of reading consoles will be bought but will never overtake books.
personal evaluation (Billy Connelly)
MARK | |
Presentation 10% | 9 |
Body language & Eye contact 10% | 8 |
Structure 10% | 9 |
Content 40% | 37 |
Language 20% | 19 |
Pronunciation & Intonation 10% | 10 |
Evaluation (Final Mark) | 90 |
I used a power point document to display my presentation. Because my presentation was about a comedian, I also showed a video of his work at the end where he tells a joke about algebra, i found it an adequate video since we are doing a cientific batxillerat. Timewise it was over the minimum of five minutes.
I found that my body language was good, i was moving and refering to the presentation on the powerpoint a lot which helps the audience to situate themselves better. I read from the powerpont keywords sometimes and had to refer to my notes near the end of the presentation
.
Refering to the structure or the presentation i made a long ontroduction about the comedian ,l explaining the important moments in his life, before the introduction i asked a question to the audience which was ''do you know who Billy Connelly is?
Content, i think I gave the audience some information that they didn't know before, not so much refering to the comedian, but to comedy in general, that it's a lot diferent to the comedy in Spain.
Language, the vocabulari was correct for the audience I was presenting to, all relating to the topic. My voice was a little bit high pitched because I was a little bit nervious and I talked quite fast that maby made it hard for some people to understand me. I spoke fluently, but too fluently. I used many fillers in between information.
I think the mark I put is a deserved mark because considering my level of english i could have done a lot better, i have to learn to speak out in front of a crowd with confidence. Most of my classmates gave me nine's and 10's but I think it's because of my accent and the way i speak. If i had said the same in a catalan accent the mark would have varied a lot. I think I have to dedeicate more time practising at home before the presentation and expand the infoprmation i give.vocabulary, use more fillers and intonate more.
reserch project
As you know everybody is making a big fuss about the reserch Projects because it will count for ten percent of the final mark in batxillerat.
I really did'nt know what to do for my project until the very last day. At first I wanted to do it about the evolution and designs of waterskis but a load of people told me that I would have a teacher that does'nt give very goos marks, and that put me off doing my project about that.
In the end I chose a diferent subject because of my phisical education teacher, he asked me what I was going to do and I told him that i was'nt sure. So she proposed to me to do it on just waterskiing in general, like explain what it's all about and stuff like that. It seemed like an interesting project so I accepted the proposal. I have been skiing for many years ans have a lot of information about the sport. I even know how to make one because my waterski trainer ma

On the right is a photo of the HO A1 This slalom ski was made and designed my the best slalom skier in Great Britan, Will Asher. Slalom skiing consists in go ound 6 marked floatong balls at a contant spped, when the maximum speed is reached the line will be shortened to make it harder until you cant reach the ball anymore

This photo on the left is of the best jump skiier in the world(Freddie Kreuger) These are jump skis, much longer and wider than the slalom ski or the trick ski for better flight. The aim of waterski jumping is to reach the maximum speed at the base of the ramp and get the best lift fhe top of the ramp to get the longest distace.

This is a trick ski. It is a much smaller ski for maximum movement. Specially made for doing tricks like back flips and twists. They are very easy to make because you do'nt need a lot of materials. This type of ski does'nt have fins like all the other skiis so its easier to control .
These are the three diferent disiplins and skiis in waterskiing. I only have two weeks more to finish my project and i don't know how i'm going to do it,
wish me luck.
human rights
1. What are human rights?
2. When did human rights start?
They started the10th December 1948 but they existed before under another name ‘natural rights’.
3. Why were they created?
To reaffirm faith in human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person.
4. How many human rights are there?
There are 30 human rights in total.
5. Which human right were you not familiar with?
I wasen't familiar with most of them because i was never thought them and nobody ever showed me them. “no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile”, i could have guessed most of them but this one took me by surprise the most.
6. Choose one human right and discuss:
"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; the right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers.
This right is vital for many activities relating to the defence of human rights. For example, people have the right to seek, obtain, receive and hold information about human rights and human rights violations.
States should ensure that people are able to peacefully protest, publicize and circulate information and criticize the failure of governments to protect or promote human rights.
7. Are Humans rights relevant in the world today? why?
Yes they do, we don't take into account how onportant they actually are. If they didn't exist we would live in a caotic world with no order or respect.
